How does booking and payout work on SURP?
Renters pay securely in-app through Stripe at checkout. Before you pay, SURP shows the full total including rental price, platform fees, and SURP Shield. Hosts receive payouts to their connected Stripe account after booking milestones are completed, based on SURP payout timing and risk checks.
What are the 3 SURP Shield tiers?
Current tiers per booking are: Essentials ($5) for items up to $150, Standard ($15) for items up to $750, and Premium ($35) for items above $750. Your exact fee and any booking-specific limits are always shown clearly at checkout before payment.
How does SURP Shield work?
SURP Shield is a contractual damage waiver layer. It is not insurance. For eligible accidental damage, it can limit renter liability up to the cap shown for that booking. It does not apply to intentional damage, misuse, prohibited use, collusion, or fraud. Claims are assessed using booking records and evidence from both sides.
What happens if someone steals my item or does not return it?
Report the issue in-app immediately and contact local police as soon as possible. A police reference number is required for theft/non-return assessment, and delays can affect eligibility. SURP then reviews booking messages, timestamps, handover evidence, and account activity to determine next steps.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Refund outcomes depend on cancellation timing. In general, more than 24 hours before start is the most favorable refund window, 6-24 hours is usually partial, and under 6 hours is typically non-refundable for the rental amount. Your exact policy and outcome are shown in your booking details.
How do pickup and return check-ins protect me?
Use the in-app handover flow at both pickup and return, including photos/videos of condition. This creates timestamped evidence for both parties, reduces misunderstandings, and helps SURP resolve damage disputes faster and more fairly.
What fees does SURP charge hosts and renters?
Hosts pay a platform fee on successful rentals. Renters may pay platform and SURP Shield fees. SURP always shows the full breakdown before payment so there are no hidden checkout surprises.
Do I need identity verification to use SURP?
Yes, for key account actions and trust checks. SURP uses Stripe Identity and related verification steps to reduce fraud risk and improve safety for both hosts and renters.
